Are your kids all grown up and on their own, but left their mess behind? Is your attic full of junk that you just don’t need anymore? No matter what your reason for a cleanout, there are a few things that you can do to prepare and make your clean-out process a less hateful one!

Clean out Tips

  1. Pick a two-week period of time for your cleanout.
  2. Schedule family and friends to help you.
  3. Have an idea of what you want to throw out or make a list.
  4. Organize each room of your house prior to the cleanout.
  5. Have family members go through their things prior to the clean out; this can be a good way to start cleaning out your house before you rent a dumpster.
  6. Clear out all clutter from your garage, attic, basement, closets, cabinets, and storage bins.
  7. Seperate recycables from other debris.
  8. Separate metals from other debris.
  9. Donate items that you have outgrown.
  10. If an item hasn’t been used in over year, and unless it’s super special to you, get rid of it!

Preparation and organization are two important factors that will lead to a successful clean out. And it’ll make your project better prepared for when you order a dumpster to rent. Paying for your dumpster to sit outside is not going to get your cleaning done!
